A-ware Food Group is granted the royal warrant of appointment

Publication date: 04-03-2015

Receiving the royal warrant of appointment is an historic and festive occasion for A-ware Food Group. "We consider the royal warrant of appointment as a confirmation that we are on the right track together with our supply chain partners", says CEO Jan Anker. "We mainly see the royal warrant of appointment as the first step towards the next 125 years, in which we want to continue to thrive in the market together with our supply chain partners by developing the most profitable and sustainable agri-food chains."

As a shareholder and active member of the Supervisory Board, Mr. Peet Bouter is closely involved in A-ware Food Group. It was his grandfather who, in 1890, laid the foundations of Bouter Cheese, which merged into A-ware Food Group in 2010 together with Anker Cheese. "It is a tremendous honour and I am extremely proud that the King has seen fit to grant A-ware Food Group the royal warrant of approval."

The origins of Royal A-ware are in Streefkerk, a town in the province of South Holland. It is where Mr. Peter Bouter started his animal feed and cheese business in 1890. The first cheese warehouse was built shortly afterwards in Groot-Ammers. Mr. Bouter's sons Huig, Wim, Bart and Jan joined the company in the 1930s. In 1956, the third generation arrived with Peet Bouter, son of Bart. Under Peet Bouter's leadership, the family business grew to be the partner of a leading Dutch retail chain.

In 1963, Mr. Arie Anker started selling cheese on the market. Later he expanded his operations with aging cheese for third parties. In the 1990s, the company was joined by two daughters and son Jan Anker. Under the management of Jan Anker, the business expanded by trading, ageing and transporting cheese under its own management.
In 2010, the family businesses Bouter Cheese and Anker Cheese merged to become the A-ware Food Group. This family business is led by Jan Anker. Royal A-ware is a truly Dutch family business that has made it its mission to be the market leader by developing the most profitable and sustainable agri-food chains with its supply chain partners.
