Royal A-ware turnover grew by 20% to EUR 2.2 billion in 2021

In 2021, Royal A-ware realised a turnover of EUR 2.2 billion, an increase by 20%. The net result rose to EUR 50.8 million, representing 2.3% of turnover. The company’s growth is the result of the consistent implementation of its long-term strategy and corresponding investment agenda. The number of permanent employees increased by 11% to 3,459 FTEs. Investments grew by 11% to EUR 65.5 billion in 2021.

Noordhoek Grated Cheese to become part of Royal A-ware

Family businesses Royal A-ware and Noordhoek recently signed an agreement under which Noordhoek will be taken over by Royal A-ware. The proposed takeover has been submitted to the ACM for approval. Noordhoek's employees were informed about the proposed takeover on Monday 30 May. Upon the NMa’s approval, Noordhoek will become part of Royal A-ware and Noordhoek’s 58 employees will become Royal A-ware employees.

Royal A-ware wants to increase biodiversity with bee hives

In the coming months, Royal A-ware will have bee hives placed (in cooperation with Liquid Nature) at some of our A-ware locations and dairy farmers. Today, the first bees were placed at Bouter Cheese in Culemborg.

Royal A-ware starts second milk stream in Belgium: pasture milk

From June 1, 2022, Royal A-ware will start a second milk stream in Belgium. In addition to conventional milk, the dairy processor will also collect pasture milk. In the start-up phase, a limited number of dairy farmers will be able to supply pasture milk to A-ware.

On Tuesday, March 15, the court in Ghent declared the bankruptcy of Hollebeekhoeve in Kruibeke (BE). Royal A-ware has reached an agreement with the trustee concerning the takeover of the facilities. The affected employees will be offered the opportunity to join A-ware.

Oscar Meuffels starts at Royal A-ware

On February 1st, Oscar Meuffels started at Royal A-ware as Director Public Affairs & Corporate Social Responsibility. In this role, he will be engaged in the external advocacy of Royal A-ware and further develop a concrete and distinctive CSR policy for the company. Oscar is no stranger to the dairy sector. Before joining Royal A-ware, Oscar was director of the Nederlandse Zuivel Organisatie (NZO).

Hoogwegt and Royal A-ware conclude long-term partnership agreement

Royal A-ware and Hoogwegt are going to cooperate intensively for the sale of milk powders and cream that Royal A-ware produces in Aalter (Belgium). Both parties concluded a long-term partnership agreement at the end of December. The cooperation strengthens the core activities of both family businesses.

Royal A-ware starts in Aalter (Belgium)

The official transfer of FrieslandCampina's milk powder activities to Royal A-ware took place in Aalter, Belgium, on Tuesday, November 2nd. The 40 employees directly involved have joined Royal A-ware.
