On Tuesday, June 24, the unions and the board of dairy producer Olympia reached agreement on the social plan. This means that the closure of the dairy factory in Pajottegem is now final.
The intention to close the plant was announced to Olympia's 167 employees at the beginning of May. The information and consultation phase with the works council was recently completed, and the board subsequently decided to close Olympia.
Following this decision, discussions about the social plan began immediately in order to provide employees with clarity about the social plan and the closure of the factory as quickly as possible. Thanks to the considerable efforts of the trade unions, the works council, the employees, and the Olympia management, the discussions about the social plan were very constructive and were concluded on June 24.
Production at the factory will be phased out. The first activities will cease at the beginning of August, when the first employees will also leave the company. All activities will cease by April 1, 2026, at the latest.
