Royal A-ware has published its annual report for 2024. The report explains the financial results of the past year as well as the company's progress on sustainability. This makes Royal A-ware the first dairy producer in the Netherlands with an auditor's report on its sustainability reporting in accordance with the new European guidelines (CSRD).
'Transparency and reliability are essential to us. We are proud to be the first Dutch dairy producer to have an auditor's report on our sustainability reporting.' said Jan Anker, CEO of Royal A-ware.
Sales rise again
Royal A-ware's sales rose 16.4% to €3.8 billion in 2024. Net profit amounted to €65 million. The total balance sheet grew from €1,515 million in 2023 to €1,983 million at the end of 2024. This was mainly due to investments in tangible and financial assets and increased working capital. With a net group result of €65 million, Royal A-ware posted a result of just under 2% of sales. Net investments in 2024 amount to €108 million.
Stable margins despite volatile dairy market
The continued volatility of milk and dairy prices also affected the realised result in 2024. The milk price rose steadily in 2024 while the development of dairy product prices showed a more erratic pattern. In such a market, it is challenging to keep sales margins stable. In addition, costs again increased sharply in 2024. Not all cost increases could be passed on to customers and therefore, compared to 2023, a decrease was seen in the net result.
Growing number of dairy farmers
The number of dairy farmers supplying Royal A-ware again grew in 2024 in both Belgium and the Netherlands. Despite the volatile market and rising costs, Royal A-ware again managed to remain one of the leaders in both countries when it comes to milk prices paid to her dairy farmers.
International investments
Key investments in 2024 comprised the expansion of both production and packaging capacity in the Netherlands, the construction of the new mozzarella plant in Spain and investments in fresh dairy production sites in Belgium and the Netherlands.
